Town's 5pm Vote on Edgemont: With less than an hour to go, agenda and access finally posted.
We are about an hour away from the 5pm scheduled meeting that Paul Feiner emailed yesterday, but only minutes ago was an agenda listed online with instructions on how to attend or even observe the meeting. We had been reaching out individually to Town Board members and and the Town Clerk and only learned an hour ago that the meeting is online-only, but still, no access instructions were provided until 3:59pm.
This is very reminiscent of the same home Rule request from five years ago where the Town had failed to schedule the meeting properly. The Town didn’t want the attendance and when we pointed it out, they tried to get the meeting done on Father's Day. From that video there were over 200 people in attendance from both Edgemont and the rest of unincorporated to voice strong opposition to the Town trying such a maneuver.
It will be interesting to see if the Town holds the meeting or holds another one (or both). If anyone wonders why there’s an interest in incorporation, look no further than the underhanded methods of the Town when it comes to basic democracy and open meeting standards.
